Position: Senior Software Engineer (AI Training Specialist)
Employment Type: Part-Time Contractor (~15 hours per week)
Location: Remote (US-compatible time zones)
Role Overview
Elite Careers has partnered with micro1 to source expert Senior Software Engineers for an innovative, high-impact project. In this role, you will use your deep domain knowledge to train and refine next-generation artificial intelligence systems. You do not need prior AI or machine learning experience—your advanced coding, architecture, and problem-solving skills are what matter.
You will build Reinforcement Learning Environments that challenge and evaluate an AI model’s ability to solve complex software engineering problems. Your core task involves creating reproducible coding environments and designing “golden reference” solutions for debugging, refactoring, feature creation, and performance optimization.
Core Responsibilities
Write High-Quality Code: Contribute expert-level code samples and development insights in at least one primary language: Python3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript.
Build Training Environments: Create reproducible environments and definitive reference solutions to test AI capabilities in resolving software bugs and optimizing code.
Optimize & Refactor: Troubleshoot complex system bottlenecks, resolve software defects, and refactor legacy codebases to improve long-term reliability and performance.
Document Technical Logic: Write clear, structured documentation explaining your technical reasoning and solution approaches to improve AI training data quality.
Conduct Peer Reviews: Evaluate and validate code submissions from other expert developers to ensure absolute accuracy and clarity.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Programming Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience in Python3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript.
Computer Science Fundamentals: Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and modern software engineering principles.
System Debugging: Proven track record of navigating large codebases, resolving complex bugs, and modernizing legacy systems.
Clear Communication: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts and logic through clear, concise documentation.
Tech Curiosity: A strong interest in the evolution of AI and its technical challenges (no prior AI background required).
Compensation & Schedule
Output-Based Pay: You are paid per completed task that meets project specifications, allowing you to control your earning potential based on your efficiency.
Minimum Commitment: Contractors must maintain a minimum number of completed task submissions per week.
Immediate Start: Onboarding is streamlined. Selected engineers typically receive their first assignments within 24 to 48 hours of clearing the screening process.
