About the Role

Join a high-impact engineering initiative focused on advanced mechanical design and next-generation AI training. In this role, you will apply your expertise in Autodesk Inventor and parametric 3D CAD modeling to generate, audit, and refine high-quality technical inputs that shape how AI models reason and learn mechanical engineering workflows.

No prior AI experience is required. Your deep domain knowledge in 3D CAD design, GD&T, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) is what matters most. While work involves Autodesk Inventor, skills will transfer to open-source parametric tools like FreeCAD for specific project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Parametric CAD Modeling: Develop fully parametric 3D CAD models of complex mechanical parts and assemblies from detailed technical briefs.

  • Model Refinement & Editing: Update and optimize existing 3D models to meet revised specifications, maintaining parametric integrity and industry best practices.

  • CAD Quality Auditing: Review technical models for strict adherence to dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturability criteria, documenting technical discrepancies clearly.

  • GD&T Application: Create and interpret detailed engineering drawings adhering strictly to ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.

  • DFM Integration: Apply robust Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles across CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, and casting/forging.

  • AI Training Support: Provide clear, structured written rationale behind design choices, edits, and CAD audits to support AI model reinforcement learning.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • CAD Expertise: 4+ years of professional parametric modeling experience for design audits and edits; 10+ years for complex, ground-up assembly creation.

  • Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in Autodesk Inventor. High adaptability to FreeCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360.

  • GD&T Precision: Demonstrated experience applying ASME Y14.5 standards to real-world mechanical designs.

  • DFM Knowledge: Hands-on experience designing for at least two major manufacturing processes (CNC, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, Casting).

  • Assembly Design: Proven ability to structure and manage multi-part mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.

  • Technical Communication: Exceptional written English for documenting design decisions and auditing technical workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with reverse engineering workflows (Scan-to-CAD or point cloud reconstruction).

  • Familiarity with CAD automation scripts (iLogic, Python, VBA, or NX Open).
